Latest News – Weeks Beginning 28 September and 5 October 2026

On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October, W&CCC held the annual Photography Exhibition at Cambridge Square, Camberley.  As in previous years, the exhibition space was provided by The Square Camberley and we are very grateful to them for this.  Andrew Raymond, Operations Director of The Square Camberley visited the Exhibition and commented on just how impressed he was by the quality of the images and the display, and on how keen he is for us to hold the Exhibition again in autumn 2027.

The Exhibition was also visited by the Deputy Mayor of Surrey Heath (Cllr, Mary Glauert), who told us she ‘very much enjoyed viewing all the fabulous photographs and was most grateful for the very warm welcome she received’.

Our meeting on Wednesday 30th September was the first of this year’s ‘Print of the Year’ (POY) competitions. This was an Open Competition for W&CCC members and was judged by Rob Bonfield of the Woking Photographic Society and Surrey Photographic Association. In the end and after a very close competition, three images scored 10 points and Roger Hoyle’s image of ‘Rain approaching Caerarfon’ was selected the winner.

Our Zoom talk on Wednesday 23rd September was by Ruth Grindrod, a landscape photographer now based in Leyburn North Yorkshire, but previously resident in East Anglia.  She showed us examples of her work from a wide range of remote locations in UK and elsewhere and described in detail how many had been generated. 

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 15th October and is the 2nd round of the of this year’s ‘PDI of the Year’ competition. This is an Open Competition for W&CCC members and will be judged by Bogdan Schiteanu of Dorking Camera Club and Surrey Photographic Association. If you are interested in joining us at the Deepcut Village Centre GU16 6BW to see the range of images taken by our members, then you would be very welcome to come as a guest. We start at 7.45pm and finish at 10pm.
